John Iroff

What’s your favorite proposal or anniversary story? I always thought it would be entertaining if someone took their fiancé to Busters’ to propose.

What advice do you have for a couple getting engaged? Be patient. It will take you a long way.

What is your favorite stone and why? Diamonds! I love how sparkly and durable they are.

Why are you in the jewelry business? When we moved back to Georgia in the 1960’s my father-in-law gave me the opportunity to work at his store, Dobbs Jewelers. I’ve been in the industry ever since.

Why do you work for Iroff & Son? As the owner, I couldn’t imagine my life without the store. Working alongside family to make customers happy keeps me going.

Any personal notes or accomplishments you would like to share? After years in the jewelry industry, in the 1980’s I took a risk and decided to go out on my own. I took the risk to go out on my own in the early eighties. Looking at how far the family business has come, I am glad I did.

headshot-brian What is your favorite style of ring? Traditional solitaire. It is simple, clean and elegant. My second choice is a three stone ring because of what it symbolizes.

What’s your favorite proposal or anniversary story? I sold a ring to a young man that proposed by a scavenger hunt.

What advice do you have for a couple getting engaged? Remember that you are the stars of your own show. Don’t sweat the small stuff, let things go and simply enjoy each other.

What is your favorite stone and why? Diamonds! A Diamond is the only natural gemstone that will reflect all the colors of the rainbow.

Why are you in the jewelry business? I started working in the family business when I was a teenager, fell in love with the industry and never left.

Why do you work for Iroff & Son? It’s in my blood. I am the son of a second-generation jeweler, which makes me the third generation.

Are there any personal notes or accomplishments that you would like to share? I completed my GIA Gemologist degree in 1991 and followed that up with a GIA stone setting course in the mid 1990’s. Outside of work, I am a proud husband and a father of three beautiful children.

headshot-v-hope What is your favorite style of ring? I love diamond and sapphire halo rings and diamond and sapphire Bands.

What’s your favorite proposal or anniversary story? A customer of mine took his girlfriend to Asheville, NC and proposed in a hot air balloon.

What advice do you have for a couple getting engaged? Do not stress about the wedding, it’s just a small part of your future together. And, always communicate!

What is your favorite stone and why? Diamonds and sapphires because they are classic.

Why are you in the jewelry business? After 35 years in the business, I’m still as fascinated with gems and jewelry as I was when I first started my GIA courses at the age of 19.

Why do you work for Iroff & Son? Brian hired me!

Are there any personal notes or accomplishments that you would like to share? I’m proud to say that I received my Graduate Gemologist degree when I was 8 months pregnant with my first child.
